Its Finally Here!

So our before and after dining room chair is FINALLY here! I have actually been done for about a week but have been too lazy to photograph it! Anyhow, I am so excited about it! I bought these chairs at our antique thrift store for $20 each.

And After:
We sanded, painted, and recovered. I used Ralph Lauren Black Truffles paint- its a deep chalky grey and recovered using a remnant I found that I got for $2 a yard!

Please excuse the boring beige carpet

But sad news as well. As Jenny on Little Green Notebook announced, Home Depot is getting rid of my favorite paint line, Ralph Lauren. So I am going to do as Jenny did and take one of every paint chip to make my own paint deck. It will be a little sad.
But the hubs and I are going on a thrifting date later today, as well as visiting the amazing Cupcake and eating several of their awesome Red Velvet Cupcakes, yummmm.

Have a Happy Saturday!

I'm thinking...

So I am working on a little project in the apt, and I can't decide what to do! For our wedding, the hubs and I received from some dear friends a set of lithographs of Naples, Italy. They live in Italy and when I was studying abroad we stayed with them in their GORGEOUS penthouse. Anyhow, I am framing the set and hanging them in our little hallway off the front entryway. The walls are boring boring boring beige but I don't want to paint as we might be moving soon! So I thought this might be a fun way to bring some life to the wall.

What I can't decide is if I should hang them in a grid or a random pattern. And I stuck the pictures up their with just some painters tape, I have yet to put them in their frames!
Here is the grid pattern... this is from the front entry

(sorry I was sitting on our bar taking this picture so you can see the countertop in the picture.)

and I like this arrangement, but then I think I might like a more random arrangement, a la Pure Style Home.

Lauren is one of my favorite designers, she is so inspirational!

from here

So here is the random...and to make it fill up the wall more, I might add some prints I just have laying around the house.

So any thoughts??

Now don't panic....

Look what we got last night! The grocery stores were packed as everyone rushed to stock up on bread and milk, school got out early before it even started to snow, and roads were closed. Its a big deal for SC.

So I have an easy project for you all today. Last year, I found a canvas I loved from pottery barn ( from here but no longer available) but didn't want to pay the $80 price tag. So I created my own.

I loved the sketchy look of the Eiffel tower canvas and thought it would be an easy way to remember the time I spent in Italy.

So I took one of my favorite pictures from my favorite place...

A $8 11x14 canvas and a sharpie later...

Voila! I added a tree for a little interest. So for a total of $8 as apposed to an $80, i think thats a pretty good deal!

I did get on a roll and do one of the tower of Pisa as well, super easy!

So I suggest, take some pictures of your favorite places you have visited around the world and make them art to hang in your house!

Also, a big congrats to Riley for getting her fabulous project on Design Sponge, way to go! I love you!

A little elbow grease...

Last week I went to my favorite antique store in the area, they have lots of fun finds and good pieces. Anyhow, we came across this piece that we looked at and looked at and could not figure out what it was! The hubby went to ask and we found out it was an old (circa 1950's?) home radiator cover. Sounds fun, huh? But really, it was awesome and I said, "hey, lets make that our TV stand," so we did.

A little while later, a little structural support in the form of some 2x4's and a lot of soap and water and elbow grease... here it is

Back behind the lattice work we have some speakers that you can see in the picture because of the flash, you can't see them in person

I am thinking of taking a trip to ikea to get some floating shelves for above the stand next weekend when I go to Charlotte to visit my best friend, who you may know better as the insanly talented person behind the blog The Life of Riley. Can't wait!

I think it would be a lot better if we didn't have the standard beige carpet and beige walls associated with apartment living.

I love the lattice work...

I don't know about you all, but I'm way overdue for a weekend. This week has been busy and I am so ready to just relax. The hubs and I are tackling a very exciting project that I will tell you about when we are finished, hint hint it involves a piece of furniture from the 1940's. So excited!

So here is to sleeping in and relaxing!

So for valentine's day my honey is taking me to Atlanta for a fun getaway and I am so excited! We are going to go the aquarium, which doesn't sound very romantic but I have been dying to go because I am a dork when it comes to fish and anything from the ocean, I am so excited! But anyhow, I am trying to think of little surprises for him... so don't tell!

I just ordered this from Little Paper Planes from Art School Girl, am I am so excited to get it in and frame it!

And I think I am going to make these, I found them on mint and they look amazing! And my guy LOVES red velvet so I think these are definitely going to happen.

They were made by the adorable Ivana from Love Ardently.

Any other ideas????
