A little eye candy...

Yummy black lacquer bookcases.

And how fun is this monogram. Its hard for me to get past my fear of monograms being so preppy- but this totally gets me over it. LOVE!

Flower of the week

I love filling my my house with fresh flowers. I normally buy some at once a week, sometimes twice! Nature has calming properties and flowers are an easy way to bring some of that into your day to day routine- especially when you live in an apartment and don't have a yard! So I thought I would share a little bit of my obsession with the flower of the week.

Don't you love my new vase!

unfortunately I took this picture a few days after their peak. But they really were beautiful!

And I thought I would share a picture of my hubby's birthday dinner this past weekend! We started off the weekend strong with going to see the movie SALT, which I would highly recommend! Saturday we went tubing on the river all day with some dear friends, it was 100 degrees and the water felt amazing! Then we met my family for dinner for amazing food and fun times. Total success!

Back in Action

I admit I've been a little sketchy for the past couple of weeks, so I thought I would update you all on what I have been doing when not in the blog world! I've been shopping. A lot. The hubs about had a stroke about everything I have been bringing home- but it was all good deals! But just in case you all think I'm a shopaholic- I'm not going to show you everything I have been buying at once-

So here is my recent finds in the art department.

I LOVE this photograph. I saw it in the store and immediately wanted it for my bedroom. I makes me think about sunny days on the water with no worries. A perfect message to remind yourself to relax and make your home your sanctuary.

These next two paintings are on plexi-glass. I picked them up at TJ's for $40 each!

The colors are so happy and I love the thick brushstrokes- they are now above my console in the dining room (which still needs to be styled, so excuse me!)

Well that is the art purchases I've made lately- I'll post about my other purchases and projects soon- Its going to be a fun time! I have lots of plans running around in my head- I'll let you guys in on my ideas soon! Have a great start to the week!

Update

After writing about the fun finds we found in Charlotte last week- I realized I needed to post pictures of them!
The fun glass lamps- I am thinking we need a tall rectangular shade or a round shade with maybe some black trim??

How awesome is this vintage desk chair? I love the casters! We scooped this up for only $35- steal!

These past two days have been CRAZY at work. We are installing for a designer showcase home- we are doing the living room and our photoshoot is on Friday. The room is looking AMAZING (i'll post pics!) but needless to say- this equals long hours + on feet all day + 1 million trips to our warehouse for accessories + rearranging a million times! All this = exhaustion. So tonight I plan on curling up with my honey and having a big cup of tea, maybe some ice cream, and watching the finale of the Hills?? Excited!

Catching up.

In between watching the World Cup every free minute these past few weeks, (viva Espana!), my life has been full of traveling and vacationing. Can't say I'm complaining- its been amazing! Last Thursday I traveled to the big city of ATL to pick up my brother from the airport. (for those of you who don't know, my brother is in the Air Force and visits are few and far between). It was amazing to spend a few days with him.

Then it was off to the beach! Me and the hubs had our first solo vacation (besides our honeymoon) and it was AMAZING! I spent all day on the beach catching up on my reading, napping and playing in the surf with my kayak.

Look at that height! And that is the only exercise I got all week.
Now who says white boys can't jump?

Got back from the beach on Thursday and headed up to Charlotte Friday morning to help my cousin with her house. She is redoing her living room and dining room- and we had fun playing all weekend. I also got to see Riley -I roped her in with promises of antiquing and Benjamin Moore paint decks- it was so amazing to spend time with 2 of my favorite people!

We went to the most amazing furniture mill in Concord. Crammed in every corner of a huge mill that had to have covered 5 or 6 acres was incredible, one of a kind vintage and refurbished pieces at great prices. There were so many treasures- I couldn't take it all in! We got my cousin 2 glass lamp bases for $50 and a solid oak vintage desk chair on awesome casters for $35.

We are serious shoppers. Check out the Merrells with the sundress- thats pretty hardcore.
