One unexpected week. One great year.

The past week was not what I expected. At all. I left Friday for High Point Market, excited for the crazy week. Met up with our clients on Friday afternoon, previewed a few showrooms and went back to our awesome suite to chill. Woke up the next morning with an AWFUL stomach bug. I mean the whole nine yards. I'll spare you the details but it was terrible. The worst timing ever! So I placed my "in case of emergency" phone call to Heather, my cousin who lives nearby. She dropped everything and came to get me and my poor self. Thank you Heather I love you! She saved my life.

It took a few days to get over the bug and I missed the rest of market, major bummer. My sweet husband came up to Charlotte to pick me up and took me home and nursed me back to health. He was wonderful!

I feel 100% better now, fully recovered and back in business. We had a quiet week here and a wonderfully lazy weekend, our first weekend home since we moved in! Life has been crazy! We finally got the rest of the boxes unpacked, and now that the dining room is cleaned out, I can finally think about what we are doing in our LR, DR area. I thought I would share my inspiration board for the LR.

Our new place is much more relaxed, and living right on the river has definitely influenced my design sense. I'm more drawn to relaxed, easy styles that go with our kayaks and coolers on the porch and huge sliding glass door which is open 23 out of the 24 hours of the day.
We are finally getting around to painting our coffee tables that wonderful mustard yellow and I just ordered the most BEAUTIFUL persimmon colored silk drapes. Can't wait till they come in!

Also, this past week was mine and Luke's 1st anniversary. Yay for us! I love my husband and love being on this journey with him. He is my biggest fan and helps me on ALL of my crazy projects. Normally it goes like this. "honey, I really want to paint perfectly straight stripes on the wall or I really want you to make a table for here or Can you figure out how to cut a perfect circle for a table top? And he figures it out. That's an engineer for you. Thank heavens one of us is practical. I love you Luke!

I'm out of here

Well lovelies- I am out of here, at least for a week. Market is here. Lots to do for clients = busy busy week for us! Anyhow, traveling north promises cooler weather, so I am going to be breaking out the scarves, tights and jackets. Have fun and I'll see you back here next week with lots of fun finds!

Isn't her jacket the PERFECT leather jacket. Love that color and fit!

Fall Closet Inspiration

Well I thought that fall weather was in full swing, pulled out my boots and tights, and got excited for cider and fires, and now the weather is now up to 89 degrees again! I mean, come on weather, decide what season it is! Don't get our hopes up!

Anyway, I was MIA this past week due to work work work, unpacking unpacking unpacking! Its been crazy! But this week is looking up- Market is coming up later this week so we are busy getting ready for that! With Market comes total inspiration overload, meeting lots of fabulous people, staying up late and getting up early, and miles and miles of walking. So what should a girl wear?

Deciding what fall clothes to invest always requires a lot of thought on my part. I normally decide what 'look' I can get the most wear out of and invest in some good pieces that I can mix and match. This summer I wore high waisted skirts with a tucked in top, and I had endless variations of the same "uniform." Totally takes out the stress of getting ready. I developed this strategy while living in Italy. I noticed how the Italian women always looked totally pulled together and chic, but wore almost the same outfit every day.

Well, this fall I am getting inspired by Shopbop's Ultimate Closet feature. I stumbled upon it at Mackenzie's blog, and love every look! 13 pieces, 15 looks.

Btw, I think this might be my uniform of choice for the fall. Boots, sweaterdress, loose fitting cardi and a belt. Yep.

Another variation of the same.
I don't think I am brave enough to pull off the military faux fur jacket, but I could totally substitute my new gray leather bomber jacket in its place!
So chic! So what is your strategy for fall shopping? I would love some new inspiration!

Monday Monday

This past week was CRAZY! Between moving, a busy week at work, trying to clean out the old apartment, and a big weekend (one of my best friends from college got engaged, CONGRATS AMBER!, Homecoming at the alma mater, and visiting lil sister at her school. Here, me and hubs playing downtown...
and me and the sis, love her!

Whew, I'm wiped. But in between all the madness, I scored on craigs list! As I was looking for a dining set, see previous post here, I stumbled upon this. A 40 year old drafting table, Riley you will love this! It still has the ruler on it, and $35 dollars later, its mine.

For those of you not freaking out about this find, I'll explain my nerdyness. i graduated in architecture, so this is exciting. Don't judge.

So I would say that we had a successful week, and with the weather finally feeling like FALL- its a good life. Fall means fires and apples and hot tea and cozy mornings and beautiful trees. And for those of you looking for good fall recipes, check out See Girl Cook. Its a beautiful blog created by one of my dear friends from high school, and every recipe makes me want to get in my kitchen and cook. Here are a couple of her yummy creations.
