All that Glitters... Blog Swap!

Every week I really look forward to linking up with Friday's Fancies, and this week is especially fun because its blog swap week! a.v was so sweet to set up a fun swap for everyone.
She definitely paired us up well, because I LOVE my partner, we've had so much fun working together!
So I'm really excited to introduce to you a super sweetheart who is fast becoming one of my blogging bffs,
Carly from a simple affair!

Hello A Creative Day readers! I'm Carly from the life and style blog a simple affair.   Let me just say, I couldn't be more thrilled to have been given the opportunity to work with the extremely talented Eileen. I need to meet her ASAP. She is fabulous.  I could go on and on, but instead I'll get to the good stuff.  We chose to create both an outfit and a foyer using two of the same items:

Yes, our theme would be gold today, friends.  Here is my dream outfit featuring my dream wedges.

Gold + Black
Necklace (can only find in blue now) |  Tibi TankClutch  |  Wedge  |  Wrap Bracelet  |  Watch  | Leggings

Black + gold is one of my favorite pairings.  While it may not be part of the neon and pastel trends right now, I think it's timeless.  Red would have to be my favorite addition to this color pairing, not to mention that it's my favorite primary color.

As for accessories, I stuck with black and gold.  Major statement necklace here (possibly a DIY project later down the road??).  And, I thought the wrap bracelet was a piece of interest and added some shine to the wrist.

Now just because I said I love black + gold, doesn't mean I can't give a pastel clutch some love.  Because, yes, I really do love it.  This piece also adds some more texture to the outfit, and it's just fun.  Nothing wrong with fun.

........

On to the foyer! I have to admit, this was my first time ever creating a room collage so while slightly nerve wrecking, I had so much fun with it!

Foyer
Art: Cocoa and Hearts
Lighting: Osgood Iron Pendant
Table: Cosmopolitan Console Table, Z Gallerie
Accessories: Hive Vase (West Elm), Tyrol Horn Vase (Jayson Home), Coral Votive Holder (Z Gallerie), Red Moroccan Leather Pouf
Rug: Chevron Ivory Rug

First and foremost, how amazing is this lighting pendant that Eileen found? I know, pretty amazing.  And if you read my blog, you know I love chevron.  So that was an easy pick.

I'm currently in the process of still figuring out my style when it comes to my apartment.  Lately I'm loving rooms with a mix of patterns, textures, and color.  Jen Ramos' art is something I absolutely adore, and I knew right off the bat I needed to incorporate a piece into this foyer.  I loved this clean and crisp table that can be styled so many ways.  You could easily add books to it and stack one of the vases on top to create more varying levels.  I saved my favorite piece for last: I love the red pouf because it brings out even more of the red in the painting.

So happy I got the chance to hop on over to A Creative Day today! No other place I would rather share some Friday's Fancies love with!

Isn't she such a sweetheart? Thanks so much for stopping by Carly! And make sure you head over to a simple affair to see my designs.... which may or may not include some AMAZING black and white wallpaper and cobalt blue lamps... :-)

Friday's Fancies: Boho

Its Friday, which means you made it to the weekend! Wahooo! Alison has a fun Friday's Fancies lined up for today, we are creating outfits around something that inspires us from everyone's favorite website, Pinterest!
Looking through my pins, its easy to see what style I'm always drawn to... easy, carefree boho with a hint of glam.

Outfit perfection, no?
I chose to pull pieces that had the same feel as my fav photo but ones that I could wear now in the cold... even though I'm SO ready for summer.

What about you, are you a summer girl with easy style, tans, aviators, and maxi dresses (ME!)? Or a winter girl... bundling up in layers and cozy sweaters and cuddling by the fire?

Spotted: Vignettes

Most of you know I moved in October, and I've been working like crazy to finish up most of the rooms in my house since then. I know I haven't shown ya'll anything, and I'm sorry! Its been a busy couple of months, ordering chairs, getting rugs.. painting a fun wall treatment, and making a custom ottoman. I want to share with you all but I'm so close to being done I have to wait a little while longer!
Right now I'm stuck on the little things. The arrangement on my console, the top of my entry piece, dining room... you know, those vignettes that make your house feel finished and like you. So I've rounded up a few of my favs from around the web for inspiration... and I want to know, what do you like? Simple with just fresh flowers, personal with lots of family pics, or sophisticated with your favorite books and art?
I'm obsessed with the books... from pinterest
Chassity's bar cart, simple and sophisticated. LOVE.

DIY artwork?

We have a long hallway in our house that is long and white and boring. If it wasn't a rental, I would paint the doors in the hall black in a heartbeat....

But.... since I can't, or if I did, our landlord would be in for a big surprise! So I was thinking of a way to bring some color in there and I saw this pin of a colorblocked canvas and I thinking to DIY a huge canvas, maybe 60x60, in like a cobalt or Pantone's color the year, tangerine tango.
And maybe one of these runners?

What do you guys think? You like?
