DIY table skirt (no sew)

I don’t know how to sew so I’ve gotten pretty creative with hem tape. There isn't anything I can’t add some hem tape to.
If you remember, I had these worlds away mirrored tables in my master but I moved them to my den so I needed a new bedside table and my old Ikea white laminate ones weren’t cutting it so what else I decided to make a table skirt out of extra burlap I had and I added some gorgeous orange Schumacher trim Nan found.

Here's how I do it:

(NOTE: This is for a square table) I make two pieces of finished (hem tape around edges here) rectangular pieces that equal the front, top and back measurements and overlap them (one for the front and back and one for the sides). Then I make four not finished pieces that are a few inches taller then the height of the table that will cover your corners. see below (I glue the corner pieces on the top of the piece and let them hang)

I can't believe I'm letting you see my nightstand. hello friends addiction. And just because greek key makes everything better, I trimmed out the front and I didn't measure, I just eyeballed it.

Just call me the hem tape master.

thankful

I spent my thanksgiving with lots of time outside

cuddling with sweet cousins on the hammock
spending time with this guy
scored this plaid ruffled beauty with some black friday shopping
and making this amazing white chili recipe
It was wonderful. And now I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. How was your holiday?

DIY cheater (cork) board

This is what I like to call a cheater DIY. I see something I like and make it as cheaply as I can. Everyone has seen DIY corkboards floating around pinterest. I wanted one for my kitchen and I already had a Schumacher fabric remnant lying around and a huge frame I got for $7
I'm cheap and corkboard rolls were $30 for how much I needed, so I got creative (another word for cheap)
Yep thats right. I glued 2 layers of foam core together, and then I laid the fabric over and stapled it into the frame. So there you go, cheater cork board for about $10 and so far its held up well with tacks.

Don't forget to enter our monogrammed clutch giveaway, today's the last day!

Also, sweet Tiffany from Tiffany Leigh Interior Design just did a great DIY project inspired by my DIY gold leaf leopard print tray, make sure you check it out

workday weekend // holiday style

This girl has got serious style. I'm really excited that Sarah from workday.weekend is over today showing us an incredibly chic look for the holidays that I'm sure to recreate!  Her blog is a daily for me and I know you will love her.

I am incredibly delighted, not to mention honored to have the opportunity to guest post for Eileen and the lovely readers of A Creative Day! We thought it would be fun to put together an outfit for a favorite holiday outing: picking out a Christmas tree.  This is always one of my very favorite events of the holiday season so I always give it the credit it deserves with fabulous, yet affordable and cozy style. Enjoy!

This reminder. Some people over my career have told me that interior design is frivolous and I like to remind them of this.
