the big jean debate

Its the jean debate of fall 2013 and I need you to weigh in. Every year I go through the same debate on whether to invest in jeans. Normally I buy the Old Navy Rockstar which I really like. I want jeans that feel like leggings and these do. I like the dark washes it comes in and I find it holds up well for one season of non-stop wearing.
The other camp spends money on jeans and I'm seriously consider joining them. I'm looking at the AG Stevie Jeans from Anthro because I've heard such great things... I know Mackenzie loves her BDG Urban Outfitters Jeans which are much less then the AG but more then Old Navy. I'm also tempted by Madewell.
So here is where I want your vote. Do you spend money on jeans, is it worth it and would you do it again? Spill.

  1. If you want to be in the next Robert Palmer music video Addicted to leggings jeans go for it. Where is a unique approach to wardrobe choice? courage is risking emotional vulnerability for change. A pair of pants worn constantly for a season does not make for building a sensible closet full of items that can interplay a cast of solid choices.

  2. I go through the same thing. I love the jeans I got awhile back at Madewell. They have been my go-to skinnies for awhile. But I love my designer jeans, even though they are investment pieces. I think you have to try them on (spendy or not) to see which fit best.

  3. I actually just got some good skinny jeans from White House, Black Market - so comfortable and they are really cute on! They come in dark wash and black (and maybe some other colors, I don't remember). Not too pricey, would definitely recommend it!

  4. DUDE: you HAVE to get the Gap 1969 legging jeans in their new washes. just got a pair and I am in LOVE. the most comfortable, well fitting jeans on earth. plus, while they're usuall $70, Gap always has 30-40% off. Boom.

  5. I'm a fan of both. During college I worked at a designer jean store and we can definitely see the benefit of investing. But I also love picking up jeans from ON, UO, GAP etc ... I found the designer jeans last longer but for the trend jeans, I save my money!

  6. Gap has good options - not so cheap but definitely not expensive and good quality!!

  7. I definitely splurge on jeans - my citizens and hudsons have held up for 4+ years and I wear them a ton! Pricey but you end up spending less in the long run (I've had good luck buying some at consignment stores too for MUCH less).

  8. I have a great pair of Paige jeans that I got on sale at Anthro and I love my JCrew/Madewell jeans. However, I also have a pair of Forever 21 jeans that I LOVE when I wear riding style boots. They've also lasted me a long time...so I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. I also love Lucky Brand jeans which last me awhile.

  9. I only bought cheaper jeans which I always complained about wearing and would change out of at the first possible opportunity. I invested in my AG stevie jeans (as I closed my eyes and handed over my card, so expensive!) last year, I gladly pull them on and can actually keep them on. They are on ebay all the time but even full price they are SO worth the money and I never buy anything full price!

  10. The BDG from Urban always looked awkward on me because of my curvy hips. I prefer madewell or Levi's

  11. I have both - but I wear my cheap jeans more. I have a pair I bought for $14.99 and DIY distressed that are my favorites. I am definitely not opposed to investing in a pair - especially if it fits better than anything else you can find and if you wear them a ton. (I don't - once a week at most).

  12. Nothing like a pair of good fitting jeans! My faves are Gap always skinny (very flattering), BDG fit great too (have a grey pair that I love to death!), just got a pair of Madewell skinny jeans and the quality of the denim is seriously something I've never seen, 7's skinny ones fit great too, and current/elliot is another brand that does denim very well, they fit amazing. Hope this helps! ;)

  13. I LOVE the look of some of the nicer jeans - Madewell, J. Brand, Hudson, etc. but I've rarely splurged. I have to say the last (and only!) pair of designer jeans I've gotten (at Nordstrom rack, but still over my normal budget) I've ended up not wearing as often as my cheap $10 H&M go-to pair. The designer ones tend to stretch more throughout the day/after a few wears and I don't think I've gotten the size right yet. My Hudsons felt perfect in the dressing room but fit funny after wearing more than an hour.

So I say if it's comfy get it - I just tend to like the cheaper pairs more!

  14. If you love jeans that feel like leggings, you MUST invest in J Brand low rise skinny jeans. I buy them in black and usually buy a new pair every fall. They are THE BEST and SO comfortable. Totally worth the money!

  15. I love Joes. I buy one pair every 2 years and the quality is amazing. I say spend the money and they will last a lot longer and hold their shape.
