thanksgiving recipe

Can I just tell you I'm scared to roast my first turkey? Petrified actually is a better word. I've never cooked a whole chicken, let alone a whole turkey. I found this recipe from real simple for quick roasting turkey with thyme butter and it seems like the perfect way to ease into it. Instead of roasting the whole turkey you cut it apart and roast it with veggies. Less intimidating, maybe.
What is your go to thanksgiving recipe? I have to get sides together so need some ideas :-)

  1. If you ask me it sounds harder to butcher a whole turkey rather than cook it whole. Just follow Ina Garten's roast chicken recipe...trust me it works for a turkey too

  3. I think this sounds lovely! But it will require lots of raw poultry touching. If you buy it somewhere with a butcher, you can probably ask them to cut it for you.

Or skip the turkey all together, its all about the sides anyway :)

    Savory roasted sweet potatoes.

  4. I made AMAZING rolls from scratch last year. It sounds like a lot of unnecessary work, but it makes all the difference (especially for someone like me who considers bread a food group).
