wordpress vs. blogger

I'm going into the wordpress vs. blogger debate and I want your vote. I've always just 'heard' that you start with blogger and then upgrade to wordpress along the road. True?
I have blogger and so far I'm happy with it. Google analytics helps me track stats and I have spent a lot of time on the layout so it looks more custom.
I've always wondered if I was missing anything by not switching over to wordpress and this post about wordpress by Amber was so interesting. She made the switch over the wordpress a couple of months ago and said she feels like she has lost a lot of followers through the switch and some of the commenters said the same thing.
So I want to know if you have blogger or wordpress and if you like the one you have. Am I missing anything by not switching because right now I'm thinking I'm going to sit tight with blogger. Thoughts?
xoxo

  1. Wordpress intimidates me so much! I am staying with Blogger as long as it's working for me.

  2. I find blogger so much more user friendly -- I haven't found any super motivating reasons to switch over to Wordpress so until I do, I'm staying put. :)

  3. I've often wondered this myself. When I first started blogging I read a lot about which to choose. I ended up with Blogger because I was inexperienced and thought it would be easier. I've seen the backend of Wordpress blogs and to me, blogger and wordpress are relatively similar at least in the basic ways. Now that I've been blogging over a year I keep asking myself if I should switch over but honestly, I have no issues with Blogger and I'm happy with it.

  4. Pretty fitting conversation, have you seen my post today? ha! Anyway, I'm changing over my domain name so it's cleaner and shorter but I'm not jumping ship from blogger. I see zero reason to do so at this point. I'm still working on tweaking my layout and I think most everything I need can be achieved through blogger. Time will tell though I guess, wordpress does seem like the next step up but really I think that's a custom built website. That's the only truly big step for me!

  5. I was considering switching as well, but I think I will just opt for a domain name instead :)

  6. I always think about switching too but then I think why? I'm with you on this debate!

  7. I've thought the same thing actually. We've debated making the move to Word Press but haven't leaped yet.

  8. I've also thought the same thing! I'm still with blogger, but one thing that makes me want to switch to wordpress is the lack of support for blogger. No one to call or email.

Blogger also linked my blog to the first gmail I created - which was for a volunteer project and not a personal one. And they're not letting me change it! It's maddening.
