in which I wear the same thing every day.

Who else is confused by this weather? It was 80 degrees yesterday and the high today is 55. Yesterday I had to shave my pasty legs for shorts weather and today I'm bundling up. So weird.
I found this scarf at Target on sale and its joined my stripes, chambray and army jacket as part of my daily wear with my diy leather wrap bracelet
What is your uniform?

man behind the blog

It's no secret that I love my girl Victoria, the genius behind vmac and cheese and the branding and consulting company vivaleur. Her graphics are gorgeous and her posts beautifully curated, and her creative series are always a hit. Her man behind the blog series is no exception, and today I'm super partial to the subject as its my hubs Luke. Head over here to learn more about the man behind my blog :-)

how I've been spending snack time

This just happens to be my favorite thing right now. What is it? Greek Yogurt Cookie Dough. Sounds too good to be true or at least super bad for you? Well not only is it super amazing but its good for you. Its plain greek yogurt, peanut butter, a little vanilla and honey and dark chocolate. I've been making it in giant tubs and Luke and I have been eating it like its our job. Go here for recipe!

DIY fringe booties

When I found this image on pinterest, I knew I had to DIY my own version with my favorite black booties.

I grabbed an old leather sample from my office but any piece of leather will do, Hobby lobby has some good ones.
Cut the sample in half and then start your fringe. (I didn't measure the length of the leather piece I just cut more then I needed and knew I could trim it down) Cut until the same height all the way across your leather strip, and leave over an inch at the top to fold over and glue down inside the boot.
Should end up looking like this.
Then fold the piece of leather over and glue into place, following the curve of the boot all the way around. Wear and enjoy!

getting my paint on

Paint is one of my all time favorite things. I have a couple of painting projects lined up for this weekend and painting my front door a fun color is one of them. Any guesses as to what color?

As happy as this made me... I was also thrilled to find that Centsational Girl featured my DIY tray in this post.

Also on the plan is date night at Starbucks, making vegetable soup to warm up this freezing weather, sleeping in, getting the house ready for puppy,  and wearing my DIY distressed jeans every day. Happy Weekend!

I might have squealed with delight when I saw that Emily Henderson repinned my DIY leopard print gold leaf tray
Big news around here.

man's best friend

I'm so over the moon. Luke and I are getting a golden retriever puppy in February. I've grown up with goldens and have wanted one since we got married but we never had a yard or a house for one. Well less then a month after we closed on our house we are getting one, and I totally cried my eyes out when we decided to get one. I'm SO happy and can't wait for you all to meet our sweet puppy when she comes home with us :-)
How sweet is this photo from etsy?

DIY distressed jeans

I love my distressed jeans. I've been wearing them for years but really wanted a more skinny pair so I grabbed some old skinnies from my closet and went to work.
I looked at a couple of tutorials but ended up just going for it my way. I used the grater to soften down the areas, cut a few slits and used the utility knife to scrape (be careful!) until I liked the look.
I think I'll be wearing them every day, and more than likely attacking more pairs in my closet.
Have you DIY'd a distressed pair?

I'm going to be wearing my new studded booties all weekend now that the temperatures have dropped to 50 degrees from 80 degrees, brrr!

This post makes me really want to go thrifting with Sydney, what about you?

Excited to try Ashley's favorite new app...

This look.

Around here...

Eating my spinach dip like a champ this week, DIY neon bowl (one of my all time favorite DIYs!), and so glad a lot of liked my post on how to install a pin it button.

Happy Weekend!

DIY neon twine wrapped bowl

I'm loving everything neon these days and when I found this fun neon twine at Lowes for $3 I had an immediate plan. I grabbed a white ceramic bowl from World Market for $3 and my trusty hot glue gun and got to work. Easy peasy and I love the shot of color in my kitchen with some lemons in it.
I would recommend placing a dot of glue on four equally spaced areas around the bowl every 4 times you wrap the twine, does that make sense? It doesn't need much glue at all the glue just holds the twine in place so it doesn't slide down the bowl.
Fun right?

tortoise monogram

Luke got me this monogram necklace for christmas, good job babe! I love it and have been wearing it almost every day. The tortoise is really fun and goes with everything.
Do you have a monogram necklace? This etsy shop is my all time favorite, great price and selection.

foodie favorite

I love to eat, and I love to eat healthy. I grew up natural and organic before it was cool, as in we imported our grain from Colorado to grind the wheat ourselves to make whole wheat bread. I know, another level right? Well all that healthy eating growing up totally shaped what I love now, I crave edamame and lentils like its my job.
This dip is one of our favorites, its packed full of spinach and cannellini beans with a healthy shot of lemon and garlic. I normally double the recipe and we eat it all week
Its such an easy way to get tons of nutrients and its delicious. Win win in my book.

We call this progress

Sheetrock going up on the walls covering up the old plaster...
popcorn ceiling is gone... whoop whoop!
I guess I should say a work in progress. New 3 way switches and dimmers going in.
Great living room right? One day it will be I promise
Rest of the house taped off from the dust. I can't get to half of my house and I'm surprisingly okay with that. Taking it one day at a time, but I can't wait till I can get in there and paint!

the orchid

You know how the littlest things make you the happiest? Well orchids are my happy. I always have live ones in my house, right now I have two! And they are thriving and gorgeous (the one above is my favorite) and always make my day better.

Happy Friday! We are looking forward to a happy weekend, filled with family, my new house, nutella croissants and sleepovers. Can't wait!

Gaby wrote an awesome running playlist

These black bean and avocado lettuce wraps look amazing.

This is my favorite new blog, girl has got style. Thanks to my girl Sarah for posting about her.

I want this dress like whoa.

Sometimes the thrift store gods just smile on you. I saw this chair in one of my favorite haunts two weeks ago and didn't buy it. I kept thinking about it and went back late last week and it was still there for $15. Meant to be. Loving it with my Amber Interiors pillow, you like?

If this post wasn't enough for you to prove how much I am obsessed with this scarf, here I am again wearing it for the 5th day in a row. True love.
Also loving my DIY leather bracelet, it hasn't left my person either. Am I predictable? I guess so.

This post about blogging by Grace was fantastic, she opened up with such great advice and it really had me thinking about being intentional in my blogging. Pinterest is such a great resource for bloggers and she highlighted making it easy for others to pin organically from your blog. I did a little searching and found this great tutorial for blogger that outlines how to install a pin it button next to all the images. Super easy to install, it only took around 15 minutes total and I'm loving the results.
What do you think, do you have a pin it button or do you want one? You should totally try this tutorial!

DIY studded leather bracelet

This was such an easy DIY I feel bad calling it a DIY, but I love the end result! I picked up this leather wrap bracelet at Hobby Lobby for $5 and some studs for $1.50, and I had a 40% coupon. I just punched the studs through (use scissors if you need help piercing the leather) in a pattern. Took about 20 minutes and totaled in at less than $5 with the coupon. Such a steal for the look!

Happy Friday!

My brother in the Air Force is coming home Saturday night from being deployed overseas for 2 years and I think my heart might burst with happiness.

The only resolution I am making this year is to be intentional with my time. I don't want to feel like the year passed with me just floating by, and I'm working on being intentional with my thoughts and days, my relationship with God and others, work and blogging. Jess has been a huge inspiration in this.

What are your resolutions?

It was so much fun putting together my blogging recap, reminds me how much from 2012 I have to be thankful for, thank you for being there for it!

My favorite surprise from our house so far are these amazing vintage liquor bottles we found shoved underneath a cabinet. I've always loved collecting vintage glass and these are stunning, especially sitting in my window so the light streams through them.
They make me happy every time I look at them.

what a year

Recapping 2012 was harder then I thought, so I kept it simple with a few blogging highlights. Such amazing things happened in 2012 for this little space I call a creative day and I am so excited about what is next.
Announced we were buying our first house, closed in record time and moved in. Bought my first big girl rug for the new house and stayed up every night dreaming of ripping out walls.

Loved being able to share my bar cart and DIY ottoman with you. Makes me happy every time I look at it.

Was a big DIY month, with my DIY geometric print scarf featured on small shop, and my DIY gold leaf leopard print tray being my most pinned post of 2012.

Realized how much I love my maxi skirts for fall and ate anything pumpkin as much as socially acceptable. Spent lots of weekends at Clemson tailgating and loved every second of it.

Was beyond honored to have my bedroom makeover featured on little green notebook, and spent a lot of time pinching myself.

Recovered from Canada and spent every free moment at the beach or kayaking.

Discovered Joe Fresh minutes from where Luke was living in Canada and made up for lost time, saw whales and spent my 25 birthday in Canada and had fun pulling my favorite monogrammed items for Summer of Prep

Luke flew back from Canada to meet me at the beach for a week, it was amazing but I cried like a baby when he flew back.  May was a hard month.

Started the Everyday Series and LOVED having my favs over.

My dining room was my favorite room in the house and my major 8 year love affair with Eames is a big reason.

My home tour and a styling consultation by Liz which was amazing. That inspired me to do my first outfit post.

Redesigned my blog and welcomed 2012!

this is my life

This is the state of my life as of this afternoon. Its been a crazy awesome couple of weeks. We had a wedding of a dear friend, celebrated Christmas with friends and family, closed on our first house, moved in and immediately starting ripping up stuff and installing new sheetrock. Our only casualty so far has been 2 window panes, you can see our 'fix' with painters tape. Add it to the mile long 'to do' list.

I'm majorly excited for 2013, 2012 was a doozy and I feel like I'm coming out of a fog. This time last year I was dreading March when Luke was leaving for 4 months in Canada for work and that worry overshadowed everything. It was a really hard spring, I was not used to living alone and missed him terribly. But we came through it stronger and now I am so grateful and blessed to have my husband sleeping in bed with me every night and a sweet little house to call our first home. God is so good.

Here's to 2013, I have high expectations for you!
