kitchen redo plans

We are gearing up this summer to tackle our big kitchen redo. Rip everything out, including the floors down to the subfloor and then build it back up. I can't wait. I'm about 90% positive that I am going with a two tone cabinetry look with subway tile up to the ceiling around the windows and around our hood.
I love this look but think it needs to be when the upper cabinets run all the way to the ceiling, when they stop before the ceiling it looks a little choppy for me.

I'm a little worried about resale value though, are most people going to like the cabinets painted two different colors or is that too pushing the envelope?

  1. Ahhh so exciting! I think if you did a navy that might affect the retail value, but I think you will be safe with grey or black on bottom. Just my own opinion, maybe a real estate agent would have a better idea!

  2. YOU live there. Make it your own. If someone doesn't like the colors/style, they can change it. It's impossible to design for unknown people in the future. Enjoy your dream kitchen :)

  5. Your inspiration photos are beautiful! I'm not sure that two-toned cabinets are what the "masses" like, but they are gorgeous and YOU live there, so you should be happy with what you pick! :)

  6. I love a good kitchen project. The two tone cabinets would look great, but I know your worry. I have the same one about our kitchen. I think if it looks great it will go over just fine.
